“My life’s passion lies in exploring what may arise from the cross-fertilization of the best of the East with the best of the West.”

- Shinzen Young

Shinzen Young has been trained in the three major Buddhist traditions: Vajrayana, Zen and Vipassana. He also has his PhD from University of Wisconsin in Buddhist Studies. Shinzen is fascinated with the connections between eastern meditation and western science, which is what he has been studying and experimenting with most recently and prominently.

Shinzen has retreats and live person and automated phone meditation sessions and retreats. He believes technology can be used as a tool for those without the means to afford and travel to classes and other in-person retreats.

Shinzen believes that the future holds great things for technology and its integration in meditation practices. He believes in 100 years there could be a technology that exists that would promise a 90% chance at reaching enlightenment but that today, the products that are sold promising this very thing are not being truthful with the buyers. But, he says, “you’ve got to start somewhere."
